Stark Outplacement

Belgian outplacement calculator: scheme, deadlines and cost

Work out in 2 minutes which Belgian outplacement scheme may apply, which deadlines to check and an indicative budget estimate. The tool covers the general scheme, the CBA 82 special scheme, collective redundancy and situations requiring review.

General scheme and CBA 82

The general scheme may apply where a dismissed employee has a notice period or severance indemnity corresponding to at least 30 weeks. The CBA 82 special scheme concerns certain workers aged 45 or over with at least one year of seniority in the private sector.

Collective redundancy and medical force majeure

A collective redundancy, restructuring or medical force majeure situation may follow a specific framework. The calculator flags these cases for review before a final proposal.

Frequently asked questions about the outplacement calculator

Who is the outplacement calculator for?

The calculator is primarily for employers, HR professionals and company leaders reviewing a dismissal situation in Belgium. It collects information about the number of employees, how the contract ends, the notice period, age, seniority, sector and possible collective provisions. It provides an initial orientation and indicative estimate, but it does not replace an individual file review by Stark or a suitably qualified legal adviser.

When can the general scheme apply?

The general outplacement scheme may apply when a dismissed employee is entitled to a notice period or severance indemnity of at least 30 weeks, subject to the other legal conditions. The calculator therefore asks how the contract ends and how many weeks apply. If information is unknown or a sector rule is relevant, the result is marked for verification rather than presented as a final legal conclusion.

What is CBA 82?

CBA 82 governs a special outplacement scheme for certain workers aged 45 or over. This orientation checks age, at least one year of seniority, private-sector status, work percentage and special situations separately. The French term is CCT 82 and the Dutch term is CAO 82. The precise conditions must be checked against the rules in force on the dismissal date.

Is collective redundancy calculated like an individual dismissal?

No. A collective redundancy, restructuring or work-to-work cell may have its own framework and timetable. The calculator asks how many employees are under 45 and aged 45 or over, which region is concerned and, if known, the collective dismissal date. The result is a collective orientation, not a confirmation of compliance. The proposal and applicable obligations must be confirmed using the complete file.

Is the displayed price final?

No. The calculator displays an indicative estimate based on the answers provided. Some rules can set a minimum duration or value of support, while the commercial price depends on the confirmed scheme, volume, format and programme selected. Missing information, collective agreements and special situations can change the result. Stark reviews the relevant elements before issuing a final proposal.

What happens in a medical force majeure situation?

Medical force majeure requires a separate analysis. The calculator does not automatically classify it under the general scheme or the CBA 82 special scheme. For certain situations since 1 April 2024, the Return to Work Fund framework may be relevant. The result recommends verification because the date, procedure followed and circumstances surrounding the end of the contract can change the applicable analysis.
